Longterm Care

Everybody wants to have a bright, white, and healthy smile, and the best way to accomplish this is through proper home care, regular examinations and cleanings at our office. The strength and beauty of your smile depends on proper oral hygiene techniques and care—failure to brush and floss properly can lead to some severe dental and oral health issues. While many of these issues can be corrected, they can be costly if they are not caught early on. Our oral examinations and dental cleanings can help prevent such health issues and recovery costs, and can leave you with a nice, clean, and healthy smile!

What do your Dental Examinations and Cleanings consist of?

First, we closely examine the pockets around your teeth and gums, while checking for calculus and tartar that may have built up on the outside of your teeth and below the gum line. If we notice any build-ups, we scale (remove) the plaque and calculus, so that it cannot cause any damage to the teeth or gums. We then smooth the surface of the teeth, in order to ensure that there are no patches that can hide future build-up of plaque or calculus. If these patches were to remain, there is a good chance that at-home brushing and flossing may not be able to clean the area fully. Finally, we go ahead and floss your teeth thoroughly, followed by cleaning and polishing your teeth to leave them clean and dazzling. If we had noticed any dental or oral health problems such as a cavity that needs filling, or any signs of periodontal (gum) disease, we will discuss with you the best course of action to prevent further development of these problems.
